Google’s personal AI research assistant and interactive workspace, grounded strictly in user-uploaded materials (Source-Grounded AI). It avoids hallucinations: it answers questions only using the provided documents, videos, and notes, with precise citations. Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook but kept it as a separate specialized product rather than a feature of the main Gemini chat.
What it can do and how to use it
- In-depth analysis of documents and videos. Upload PDFs, Google Docs, text files, audio, and direct YouTube links. Automatically extract key points, timelines, reference guides, and FAQs.
- Audio Overviews (audio podcasts). Turn dry documents and reports into engaging conversational audio breakdowns (podcasts) featuring two virtual hosts.
- Strict citations. Every AI claim comes with a clickable citation that links to the exact location in the source file or transcript.
- Visualization and learning. Create mind maps, cheat sheets, research guides, and study plans for exams or meetings.
- Isolated context. Up to 500,000 words per source; the number of sources and notebooks depends on your plan (see below).

The price of paid plans varies by country. For reference: Google AI Plus with 2 TB of cloud storage costs around $50 per year in Ukraine (about $4.2 per month at the exchange rate as of 10/30/2026). For current Pro and Ultra pricing, see Google’s plans: prices are not listed on the help page.
FAQ
Do I need a VPN or proxy to use the service?
It depends on your region. If the service is not available in your country, its site says so; a VPN or proxy is a way around regional limits, but follow the rules of the service and the laws of your country. How to choose a proxy is covered in our guide to proxies for Claude. The easiest check is to open the service site.
Is it safe to share my data with an AI tool?
Do not enter passwords, payment details, personal data or trade secrets. Many services store requests and may use them to train models, especially on free plans. Check the privacy policy and the settings of the service, where training can often be switched off.
