Duolingo is the most popular app for learning languages, as well as math, music, and chess. AI tailors exercises to each learner’s level: the Birdbrain model assesses which tasks are easy or difficult and suggests review when you’re about to forget a word. Courses are available in English, German, French, Spanish, and dozens of other languages.

Plans

Basic lessons are free and include ads. The Super subscription removes ads and limits on mistakes. AI features are included in the Duolingo Max subscription, which costs around $30 per month in the US; the price varies by country, and Max isn’t available for all courses.

Do I need a VPN or proxy to use the service?

It depends on your region. If the service is not available in your country, its site says so; a VPN or proxy is a way around regional limits, but follow the rules of the service and the laws of your country. Is it safe to share my data with an AI tool?
