Chatbox is a desktop application for Windows, macOS, and Linux that lets you communicate with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other AI models in a single window. The code is open source under the GPL-3.0 license. You can connect your own provider API keys or purchase a Chatbox AI subscription to use the models without separate keys. Chat history is stored on the user’s computer.

Features and Use Cases

  • Models from different companies. All subscription plans include models from OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), Qwen, and DeepSeek; the Pro and Pro+ plans also add Grok, Kimi, MiMo, Hunyuan, and higher-tier model versions.
  • Real-time web search.
  • Document and image analysis, plus a personal knowledge base.
  • Image generation — from 5 images on the Free plan to 200 on Pro+.
  • MCP services for connecting external tools.

Plans and Pricing

Chatbox AI subscription prices are based on the pricing page at chatboxai.app/pricing as of October 30, 2026. Usage is measured in “computing points.”

Plan Annual billing Monthly billing Points Images
Free free free 10,000 per day 5
Lite $3.50 per month $3.99 per month 2 million 25
Pro $16.70 per month $19.99 per month 12 million 100

With your own API keys, the application works without a subscription: you only pay the provider for usage.

FAQ

Do I need a VPN to use the service?

It depends on your region. If the service is not available in your country, its site says so; a VPN is a way around regional limits, but follow the rules of the service and the laws of your country. The easiest check is to open the service site.

Is it safe to share my data with an AI tool?

Do not enter passwords, payment details, personal data or trade secrets. Many services store requests and may use them to train models, especially on free plans. Check the privacy policy and the settings of the service, where training can often be switched off.
